In Japan, now "Artificial Intelligence" comes to be a super star, while "Data Scientist" has been forgotten

Almost two years ago, I wrote a post about the situation of "Data Scientist" and "Artificial Intelligence" at that time.

After two years have passed, now what's happening and what do we see? Below is a summary of current situation of data science, data scientist, artificial intelligence and related topics in Japan.

Can multivariate modeling predict taste of wine? Beyond human intuition and univariate reductionism

At a certain meetup on the other day, I talked about a brand-new relationship between taste of wine (i.e. professional tasting) and data science. This talk was inspired by a book "Wine Science: The Application of Science in Winemaking". Below is its Japanese edition.

For readers who can't read Japanese, I summarized the content of the talk in this post. Just for your information, I myself am a super wine lover :) and I'm also much interested in how data science explain taste of wine.

In order to run analytics below, I prepared an R workspace in my GitHub repository. Please download and import it into your R environment.

In Japan "Data Scientist" has gone and "Artificial Intelligence" is explosively rising

More than a year ago, I pointed out that "Data Scientist" has attracted less attention than ever.

So, what's going on in 2015?... yes, I think not a few data science experts in Japan must agree that "Artificial Intelligence" explosively gets popular. Indeed we see a lot of media coverage whose title include "人工知能" (artificial intelligence in Japanese) almost every day. Google News Japanese edition shows as below.

Even within a year there are too many media coverage titled "Artificial Intelligence". Google Trends clearly shows what's going on currently. Below is a search result from 2004 to now (Feb 2015).
